You Don’t Have to Go Home But You Can’t Stay Here: Blackhawks at Senators Preview -
And so it arrives: the final game of the 2024-25 Chicago Blackhawks hockey season, with the last puck drop set for 6 p.m. north of the border on Tuesday night against the Ottawa Senators. Here’s where we’d typically do a lengthy preamble on the opponent for the evening but there’s no point in doing so because this game doesn’t mean a damn thing for either team. We’ve known for a while the Blackhawks were virtually locked in to the No. 31 spot in the standings, but that’s been officially confirmed in the last few weeks. Ottawa is postseason-bound but, with two games remaining, they’re also locked into the No. 1 wild card spot in the East and will face the Toronto Maple Leafs in the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. With that spot guaranteed, Ottawa is resting many of its key players, leading to a lineup for this game which feels more like a B-side version of a “remember some guys” discussion.

Providence propelled by power plays, slipping by Sens 4-3 in OT -
The Providence Bruins took full advantage of the nine power plays they were awarded against the visiting Belleville Senators on Saturday night, converting three times on the man-advantage including the overtime winner, to take a 4-3 decision in extra time. The Sens battled back from 2-0 and 3-2 deficits to force the extra frame, led by a two-goal night from Wyatt Bongiovanni and a 35-save effort from goalie Malcolm Subban. The standings point earned puts Belleville three points back of Toronto and Cleveland for the last playoff spot in the AHL North. Just over halfway through the first, Providence opened the scoring when a slapshot from the point by Daniil Misyul found its way in with traffic in front of Subban. Belleville spent lots of early time on the penalty kill, being sent to five of the first six kills in the game. That included a two-man advantage that carried over into the second period, when Providence doubled the

Laval @ Syracuse recap & highlights: The Rocket blanket the Crunch in Jacob Fowler’s debut -
With a win on Friday night in Rochester, the Laval Rocket had secured the AHL North Division crown and were locked into their seed heading into the AHL playoffs. They were still in contention for the MacGregor Kilpatrick Trophy, awarded to the AHL’s top team every year, and they had a narrow lead over Hershey with their final four games remaining.Standing in their way on Saturday were the Syracuse Crunch, a team the Rocket have always battled tooth-and-nail since they joined the AHL. The Rocket held the season-series lead, having won four of seven contests, and with the Crunch still seeking a playoff berth it was sure to be a tightly contested affair. The big news on the night was that Jacob Fowler was getting his first professional start for the Rocket, with Cayden Primeau serving as the backup.Vincent Arseneau was out of the lineup after nursing a lower-body injury suffered in Rochester, Will Dineen drew in for him on the Rocket fourth line. Canadiens @ Maple Leafs Top Six Minutes: Habs don’t clinch, but still nab a key point -
First periodThe thing that stands out immediately in this game is how much more room Toronto is allowing Montreal versus what the Ottawa Senators did last night.Montreal gets an early power play. Even on it the Maple Leafs aren’t really challenging the puck-carriers. Montreal has some space, but the Leafs do close down the passing lanes quite well. The Habs are the better team, but the effort id far from what I’d call ‘urgent’ to start. Maybe they’re playing the long game and hoping to wear down the Leafs’ five defencemen. They also can’t turn their play into shots, for whatever reason. Now the Canadiens are having a hard time making a pass to get through the neutral zone. They just don’t like first periods it seems.Montreal has two shots on the board as the first period comes to an end. You’re not going to win a hockey game
